South Africa

So, last month I spent three weeks in South Africa, getting a tan and sand in my hair.

I was on a training camp. My first one with the Academy, I am very lucky and grateful to have gone.

It was a great experience, I learnt a lot, got to know a few people and saw some magnificent sights. I would say that this camp was a successful one.

A great night of racing at the Shepparton CC carnival, I managed to come away with a sash from the wheel race, which was a great way to finish my last lot of racing in Aus!

Great Britain Senior Academy

So…I’m excited to let everyone know that I have been offered a position on the Great Britain Senior Cycling Academy, and I have accepted the offer. It is an amazing opportunity that I am very thankful for and will definitely make the most of.
I would like to thank my coach, Hilton Clarke for his knowledge, support, commitment and belief in me as a rider. Also the VIS, for their support over the past three years. I would also like to thank my personal sponsors, GKA Sports Store (Bont Shoes and Vittoria Tyres) for their ongoing support.
I really would like to thank my family for your love and support. I will really miss you guys.
So for me now, it’s a matter of packing my bags and heading over to Manchester for a new chapter in my life. I can't wait! Yes I know it’s going to be cold, but hey, at least I wont have to deal with tan lines and I get SNOW!!

Victorian Senior Track Grand Prix

This was my first event in the Elite Women’s Category, having stepped up from U19 Category in October. Very pleased with my F200 having achieved a substantial PB of 11.62 without speed work or a taper. I didn’t come away with a win in the sprint but enjoyed some strong racing, and managed a silver in the 500TT. However, I did come away with 2 nd place in the Aggregate, behind Ricki Belder (AUS HPU). Exhausted having so much racing on the one day, but so excited for the track season ahead.

Alvin Electronics

Alvin Electronics, the owners of which are fellow St Kilda Cycling Club members, have very kindly offered to provide some support to me as an upcoming Track Cyclist. I appreciate these guys showing an interest in me and my career aspirations and I look forward to acting as an ambassador for their business (besides the fact they are fun to be around and importantly, also have a Scottish heritage….aye). Look out for the tartan Alvin Electronic Kit out on the roads!

International Track Series (ITS) Melbourne

Over the week of July 22 to 27, I raced the International Track Series in Melbourne. This is a UCI Category 1 Event, and hosts rider primarily from Australia and New Zealand, however, Malaysia, Canada and Ireland also had riders attending the event. While not quite on my PB, I am very happy to have won both the ITS Melbourne Grand Prix (22 -23 June) U19 Sprint and the ITS Melbourne Disc Grand Prix (25-27 June), holding off both the Australian National Champion and the New Zealand National Champion in the match sprints. The third event was the Tasman Cup (a competition between Australia and New Zealand), and while I was disappointed not to be selected to be in the Australian team for the U19 team sprint, I was able to team up with a fellow VIS rider to compete. While we didn’t win, my partner and I placed second (silver) to the New Zealand team, with a personal best time for the both us.

This past week at the Australian Track National Championships has been a memorable one. Besides the obvious stack, I am really happy to have come away with a Gold in the team sprint, a Bronze in the 500m time trial, a PB and X-rays of almost every bone in my body! (That was an experience..) Congrats to all my team mates who rode amazingly. There are so many people I would like to thank. Mum and Dad, who are my personal chefs to my chauffeur service. Hilton Clarke my coach, who has been incredibly supportive. Carl Brewer who always has my back and the VIS team. Thanks also to my sponsors (GKA Sports StoreBont CyclingVittoria Australia) and VIS sponsors. Its now time to fix my bike, and myself for my next race.

Victorian Schools Cycling Championships

A weekend of a bit of fun for this sprinter.  A 30 minute Crit course with 2 laps to sprint.  As you can imagine, my favorite part of the race was the last 2 laps!  Fortunate to come away with the win and pick up the VSCC winners Jersey.  A fun race, great weather and well organised event by Cycling Victoria.

Finally, track season begins….Yeah!

At last the 2015-2016 Track season as begun.  I can’t wait for the racing to begin.  Lots of goals to achieve and lots of turning left.  Stay tuned……
Thanks again to GKA sports (Bont shoes and Vittoria tyres) for their ongoing support for another season.

Winter 2015

This winter has been a quiet one in terms of racing.  Instead, there has been a lot of focus on the gym.  Lifting heaving things and putting them back down again.

Though I did manage to sneak in a couple of races.  I competed in a number of rounds of the Victorian Winter Track series and came away as the winner of the A Grade Women’s Aggregate.  I even dabbled in the Melbourne Omnium Series and came away with a second place.  Not too bad for a sprinter.

A bit of fun :D

This weekend I drove up to Shepparton for the Christmas Carnivals. It was a great night, lots of endurance racing and a keirin to satisfy my inner sprinter. I managed to come away with a sash from the Wheelrace having sprinted the end against some great competition. I then managed to ride the 5km state championship race and place 3rd. That was funny... It was a fun night and look forward to going back next year.

States 2014

In the first day of states I placed 2nd in the 500 Meter Time Trial and rode a personal best time. The second day I placed 2nd in the sprints with a personal best time in the qualifying. Unfortunately the keirin was cancelled. This was all topped off with the good news of making the Victorian team for the 2014-2015 track season.

Monday, 10 November 2014

Thank you so much again to my personal sponsor GKA sports for supplying my amazing custom made Bont shoes.  I was lucky enough again to be able to design the look of the shoe.  So very happy with how they ended up.  Can’t wait to wear them on Wednesday at training.

The Oceania Track Championships

This part of my blog is a bit late, but I thought I would report on my UCI Oceanic Track Championship held during October.  Again, this was a great event racing against both the top Australian and New Zealand riders.  The event was not only a great racing experience, it was also a successful event personally, with a personal best for both 200m and 500m time trials and a Bronze medal in the U19 Women’s Sprints. I would also like to add that this was the first time I raced in my new UVEX helmet... it felt great.

Meet my new Uvex helmet!!! Thanks to Anna Meares for arranging it for me and thanks to Uvex Cycling (Uvex Safety Group) for supplying it... I just love it!

ITS Adelaide

I just returned from the International Track Series in Adelaide and it was a great event. I enjoyed 5 days of sprinting and keirins (my favourite!), tired now, but loved every minute of it. So fortunate to have the UCI allow top age U17 riders to compete in this event in the U19 category; which meant I could participate.  I was also excited to be able to compete in my first track series in my new VIS gear.

As for my results, I am happy to say that I did well.  I came home with lots of placings, a personal best in my F200, and importantly lots more race experience.  It was also great to be at an event with so many great Australian riders like Anna Meares, Steph Morton and Matthew Glaetzer.  Even better to have some of these riders as well as other State and AIS coaches, come and chat with you and compliment you on your riding. I can't wait until my next race.
